From the time I was introduced to the rudiments of Computer Science, I have excelled in the study of algorithms, programming languages and data processing. Increasing my depth of knowledge in Computer Science through active research and perhaps teaching assistantships and or tutoring, I will become fully equipped to bring my goals for the future to fruition, first and foremost of which are to complete a graduate program, and laying the foundation for a rewarding career as a software development project manager.
Our lives and careers seem linear on paper, despite our choices. When in Vancouver, I was taking an introductory course in International Trade, and attending a few courses in computer school. Being introduced to website development, Photoshop, Flash, html, Illustrator and other packages sparked a passion for computer science within me. Even after returning to Japan, I felt a longing to continue my computer science education. Turning to XXU was more than a logical choice; it was only natural. To date, I have been increasingly impressed by the amazing faculty, diverse student body and a curriculum that is highly relevant and broad in its scope. I can think of no better place to complete my graduate education in, nor other place I would rather develop myself in.
And now I have been left all the more eager to increase my depth of understanding in such areas as programming, database management/creation and networking. While I am aiming to make relevant and valuable contributions within reputable software development firm, my life’s focus has a new added dimension that has made me completely reassess my direction and, now, my legacy. This coming May, my life will be changed forever, the gift of a little boy entering my life, my firstborn child. Nothing would bring me greater fulfillment than to be not only a good father, but also a role model he can be proud of, as I enter into a fruitful career.
Coming from Japan, and having lived and been educated in three different countries, I have a worldview that is quite different from my academic peers. Having been educated in Japan, as well as living, working, and completing education here in the US, I am able to interact effectively with many people; combined with this is my ability to speak two languages fluently. As a result, I am able to speak confidently in front of groups of people, and am very comfortable in my own skin. This is what I bring to the student body, one in which I anticipate many opportunities for group assignments, teamwork and projects coupled with a solid foundation in Computer Science, and near-perfect GPA. Moreover, as a future software developer, I anticipate the need to interact with clients from many backgrounds. Given my cultural competency and superior education, I will be a very valuable component of the multidisciplinary development team.
The prospect of a quality graduate-level Computer Science education is incredibly exciting to me. This is my field, where I feel fulfilled and aim to leave my mark in. Thank you for your time and consideration.
